How this guide is made
Propositions
Each proposition's official title is copied word for word from the Secretary of State's Official Voter Information Guide, along with the Attorney General's official summary. The "what your vote means" lines and plain-words summaries are ours, and each line links to its source, mostly the Legislative Analyst's nonpartisan analysis.
Candidates
The list of races and candidates is the Secretary of State's Certified List of Candidates for the November 3, 2026 General Election , in the order of the Secretary of State's certified list (your ballot may list them in a different order), with names as they appear on the ballot. Each profile lists checkable facts with links to where they came from, the candidate's own stated priorities clearly labeled as theirs, and links to official records and campaign finance filings. We don't rate candidates, list endorsements, or publish polling.
Counties and local questions
County pages list every county office, district judge and city race we have. We have not collected local questions for this state yet. Wording for local questions is quoted only from official sources and marked "wording to come" where we don't have it yet.
Districts
District lines on the map come from U.S. Census Bureau files of the California's state Senate and Assembly maps drawn by the Citizens Redistricting Commission in 2021. Your sample ballot is the final word.
