This is Steve. Scuba Steve is a marine biologist who collects facts. Everything in his bag is a true paper with a named source, such as NOAA, so you can follow the link and check it yourself. He carries a suction-cup tracker launcher, not a spear gun.
Bad factSharks invented the handshake.
This is Bruce. Bruce is the hallucination shark, a random AI hallucination and a factarian. He only eats papers, and he makes up facts that sound right. He never eats Steve. The name Bruce is just for now. A hallucination is when an AI tool states something that sounds right and is not.
This page is for the grown-ups. It tells you what we hope to build for kids, and it asks for your help building it.
In progress · Not independently reviewed · The lessons are not built yet. The game is just an example of what we have so far
01 / The lessons
What Scuba Steve will teach.
Each lesson will be short, plain and sourced. This list shows the plan. Only the first lesson is set, and the others may change.
Lesson 1 · Coming first
Basic media literacy
The first questions anyone can ask about something they read, watch or hear online.
What it will cover
Who made this, and why?
What is a fact, and what is an opinion?
Can I find a second place that says the same thing?
Why can an AI answer sound sure and still be wrong?
Planned
How government is built
Who makes the laws, who carries them out, and who settles disagreements, with the same sources we use for grown-ups.
Where to start now
Our grown-up guide to the same ideas is already open.
We want to build a playful place to learn, with Scuba Steve as the guide. We have not built it yet, and we want to get it right. The lessons will say plainly when something was written with AI, and they will show their sources, like the rest of the site.
This page does not collect anything from children. We want to talk with educators about the direction they want us to go with this, so tell us what would help you.
03 / Your turn
Got ideas? Help us hunt the shark!
Teachers and parents know what works with kids. Tell us what a good lesson looks like, what would make a kid laugh, and what you wish someone had taught you.

A lot of this site is written and checked by AI, and we need humans to make sure it is not hallucinating. Reviewers read the work and check it against its sources.
