How this guide is made
Constitutional Amendment
The title and Summary of Purpose of the amendment are copied word for word from the Secretary of State's official county sample ballots (checked on 51 of 55 counties). The "what your vote means" lines and plain-words summaries are ours, and each line links to its source.
Candidates
The list of races and candidates is the Secretary of State's official county sample ballots for the November 3, 2026 general election , in the order printed on the Secretary of State's official sample ballots (your ballot may list them in a different order), with names as they appear on the ballot. Each profile lists checkable facts with links to where they came from, the candidate's own stated priorities clearly labeled as theirs, and links to official records and campaign finance filings. We don't rate candidates, list endorsements, or publish polling.
Counties and local questions
County pages list the county offices, unexpired judge and magistrate races, school board seats, city and town races and levy, bond and fee questions printed on the Secretary of State's official county sample ballots. We read 51 of the 55 counties; Berkeley, McDowell, Putnam and Raleigh are missing because we do not have their ballots yet. Levy and bond wording is not published here yet and is marked "wording to come".
Districts
District lines on the map come from U.S. Census Bureau files of the West Virginia Legislature's 2021 state Senate map (SB 3034) and House of Delegates map (HB 301). Your sample ballot is the final word.
