Every race, every candidate

All 266 candidates on the Secretary of State, Division of Elections' official list for federal, statewide and legislative offices, each with a profile page. County and local races are on your sample ballot.

Governor and U.S. Senate

Governor is the only statewide office Tennessee voters elect, and it is open this year. Statewide, voters also choose a U.S. senator and decide three constitutional amendments. The attorney general, secretary of state and other state officers are chosen by the Legislature or the courts, not by voters.

U.S. House

Your district's one vote in the U.S. House. House members write and vote on federal laws, taxes and spending, and every bill to raise taxes has to start in the House. A term is two years. Tennessee has nine House seats, all drawn on a new map this year.

State Senate

Your district's vote in the Tennessee Senate (33 members). Senators write and vote on state laws and the state budget and can override the governor's veto with a simple majority. The senators pick their own leader, who is also the state's lieutenant governor. A term is four years.

Half of the 33 state Senate seats (the odd-numbered districts) are on the ballot; senators serve four-year terms. Races with one candidate are still on the ballot.

State House

Your district's vote in the Tennessee House of Representatives (99 members). Members write and vote on state laws and the state budget, and propose constitutional amendments like the ones on this ballot. A term is two years.

All 99 state House seats are on the ballot; members serve two-year terms. Races with one candidate are still on the ballot.
