Ballot Issues
Every Montana voter decides these 3. Each page has the official ballot title word for word, what a yes or no vote does, and links to the full text.
- CI-132: Nonpartisan judge elections Keep judge elections nonpartisan, in the state constitutionmajority to pass
Biggest change: Adds a new section to the judicial article of the constitution: "Judicial elections shall remain nonpartisan.".
- CI-133: The right to ballot initiatives A constitutional right to the ballot initiative processmajority to pass
Biggest change: Says the people have a "fundamental right" to initiative and referendum; the government may not deny or burden it unless it has a compelling interest and uses the least restrictive means..
- I-194: The Montana Plan (corporate political spending) Ban political spending by corporations and other "artificial persons" (the Montana Plan)majority to pass
Biggest change: Artificial persons (nonprofits, trusts, partnerships, corporations, trade associations, unincorporated associations, and out-of-state entities doing business in Montana) would have no power to spend money or anything of value to support or oppose a Montana candidate, party, political committee or ballot issue..
Three statewide ballot issues are on the ballot. All three were put there by citizen petition, not by the Legislature. Two (CI-132, CI-133) change the state constitution; one (I-194) changes state law. Each passes with a simple majority of the votes cast on it. Source: Montana Secretary of State: 2026 ballot issues .
